Part A
This table is shows the correlation between both the year
and BTU person mile flying and the correlation between both the year and BTU
person mile driving.
While the function of year to BTU person mile flying are
linear function because the change from in BTU person mile flying decreases
more and more every 5 years. The average rate of change for BTU person mile
flying is -187.35. The function of year to BTU person mile driving is not linear
because the average rate of change changes between positive and negative.
The flying function is mathematical models because the
increase in every 5 years results in a decrease in the BTU person mile flying.
The driving function is not a mathematical model because the yeah and the BTU
person mile driving are not dependent on one another unlike the function of
flying.

Part B
This relationship shows the time of day and the and the
corresponding temperature.
2:00pm – 47F
5:00pm – 43F
8:00pm - 42F
11:00pm – 37F
2:00am – 31F
5:00am – 28F
8:00am - 28F
11:00am – 30F
This relationship is not a function because two of the
inputs have the same output.

Great post Tess! I like how you were easily able to point out why Part B wasn't a function. Nice job noticing the numbers repeat!
ReplyDeleteTess, it's really smart that you didn't use a graph but instead used a table of information and you were still able to figure out that it is a function ! Good job :)
ReplyDeleteTess it was great that you used a table, to give some variation to the blog. It was helpful to see this form of functions. Good job!
ReplyDeletetess,
ReplyDeletei really liked your first example and your explanations were very clear and concise!
your second example, however, is similar to the weather activity which we did in class, which in fact is a function. one output CAN be paired with more than one input and still be a function. keep this is mind in the future!
